The Sports Organiser is developed by John Messingham Development Services (JMDS).

JMDS is a software development company based in the North East of England and providing software development and consultancy services for clients around the world. JMDS is built on over twenty years of experience of software development in various industries including Manufacturing, Accounting and Education.

The application was first released as The League System in 2001. After 4 years of successfully helping people running their sports leagues and tournaments, the decision was made to rename the product to The Sports Organiser. The name change reflected the fact that the application had evolved into a system that could be used for cup tournaments as well as sports leagues.
